Spring is the season of light silks, fresh colors, and fun accessories; the mood is perfectly channeled by the new Como silk collection now available at the Varenna Holidays Boutique. The refined shop, located in the beautiful town of Varenna, now features exclusive silk scarves and long necklaces, all handcrafted in Italy.
Each piece is made from 100% silk and designed with abstract patterns that draw inspiration from the ever-changing hues of Lake Como—its deep waters, green mountain slopes, and soft sunset reflections. The collection of scarves and necklaces is part of a limited-edition series, and each silks’ model takes its name from a local town, becoming a wearable tribute to the Lake.
For those unfamiliar with the region, it’s worth knowing that Como has been Italy’s silk capital for centuries. The tradition dates back to the 15th century, when mulberry trees—essential for feeding silkworms—were widely cultivated across the area. By the 18th and 19th centuries, Como had become one of the most important silk production centers in Europe, combining craftsmanship with industrial innovation. Still today, the city and its surroundings are home to many textile ateliers and silk producers, supplying high-end fabrics to fashion houses worldwide. Choosing a silk item from our boutique means wearing a piece of this long-standing heritage: our high quality silks make for a perfect souvenir or gift of true local design and craftsmanship.
You can explore the collection in person at the Varenna Holidays Boutique, located at Via Venini 136. The shop also features handmade ceramics, locally produced olive oil, wine, and unique stationery, all selected to reflect the character and creativity of the Lake Como region.
