Visiting the castle is like stepping into another time, with stone walls and watchtowers that make this one of the most captivating spots on Lake Como.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The origins of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.castellodivezio.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Castello di Vezio<\/a> go back to Roman times, but it was during the medieval period that the castle gained importance as a strategic defense point. Built around the 12th century, it served as a watchtower, controlling access to the Lake and the surrounding valleys. Its location was no coincidence: from its ramparts, you can see as far as Bellagio, Menaggio, and the Grigne mountains. It was the perfect lookout post in times of war and a place of power in times of peace!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The castle is also linked to the legend of Theodelinda, Queen of the Lombards, who is said to have lived here during the last years of her life.
